I have read this for quite awhile and curious about it's sonic performance. Some of the makers have but great praise for it's sonic performance against it's costs... I'm sold! I gotta try it myself!You can google for gainclone and read it for yourself! There's even a gainclone webring.

I am planning to build my gain clone into this casing.. which was bought by a friend in Bangkok, an over kill but what the heck!
This is pending it's sonic evaluation against TheBomb, BombII and my reference Technics SU-A900 MK2 integrated amp...
Oops!, have to build the BombII first! Damn, so many things to do, not enough time ler..

dun worry about it! that det'nator is one tough amp to beat! yup, will definitely have a shoot out between the two and, if the GC is better.. I'll 'upgrade' you to the GC, how about that?
Personally, I like the det'nator because it's discrete.. very 'warm', musical and lively.. makes my RTL3 sing!

btw have u heard about Madziz...? He said already quitting in hifi....and even sold his Teac VRDS...!!!!!
Well last I heard, the TEAC was up for sale but no takers yet. He might be keeping the 'basic set' ie the amp + speakers, will use the DVD player as CD player.. dunno, have not been in touch as frequent as I used to.. have been busy lately... will update you with my progress here.. thank you for dropping by.. err click those ads eh, some income ler to support this crazy hobby.. hehe.

Ah.. the ATOLL! I think the only amp that came close to it was the 40 watter AURA from B&W. Worth every ringgit you paid for it eh, MadZiZ?
PS1 as a CD player....yes...sounds so familiar to me....been thinking to have one too but diy is just not my thing. Heard so many positive responds though.....Jazzy just put the PS1 CD player on top of a plank or a wooden cutting board and damped it with a bicycle tube....like I did. See how's it change.

U into vinyl also ah?
It has been a while since I fire up my PS1 after I got my CD transport.. will have to fire it up soon! Watch this space..

Personally I have 3 TTs.. manual belt drive scottish made, a semi auto direct drive, a Pioneer and a Technics direct drive linear tracking.. The manual one needs refurbishment. The other two is singing.. I like the Pioneer one.. old school design.
You have to search the local postings esp at hifi4sale@blogspot.com. The Star audiomart.. etc..
BUdget kena 'tinggi sikit'. There's one Technics SL-D2 going for RM350 at hifi4sale. My very first turntable! Not bad for a start.
LP wise no one buys NEW.. seconds kena carik kat Amcorp Mall etc.. RM10 to RM50 depends on conditions and demands..
Madziz already have TT or not??? What kind TT...??? If belum I suggest get the cheap one lah since he like to buy & sell. Then I can buy from him cheap cheap la...hahaha jangan marah....
hifi4sale got few TT under 1k but from unknown brand. don't know a best buy or not....

MaDZiZ will (hopefully) get one this weekend, kot? Checkout all the TTs at hifi4sale. Few good ones there even under RM1K. If you want a jump start that Technics is a reasonably good player. It'll serve the purpose.
My LPs? Most are jazz numbers. Malay LPs kat Amcorp naik harga tak tentu pasal.. They used to be 'cheap' few years back. Uji and the other 70's/80's singers I already have them all from my personal collection.. hehe..
Kat Amcorp just looking for good value and 'gems'.. those not popular/people dont want but its 'okay' with you. Get Japan or Europe pressings.. they sound great!
